Businesses and individuals looking to develop a website through which they can control the content are most likely looking at Content Management Systems (CMS). There are a host of content management systems out there and it can be tough to choose the right one. One such CMS is Drupal. Drupal allows users to login and manage the content of their website without having to rely on their web developer. However, like any other CMS, there are both advantages and disadvantages to Drupal and it is important to be aware of them before investing.

Drupal is responsible for housing a robust and agile module, which helps in web development. Drupal is an open-source content management system. This means that web developers, irrespective of their location can work as well as fix the issues as well as bugs, which keep appearing, based on the requirements. The Drupal content management system makes it easy for both technical and non-technical users to create, edit, approve, schedule and collaborate on content. As an open source platform, Drupal is supported by a worldwide community of users, contributors and developers who are continually helping to improve functionality and extend the platform. Drupal: Drupal is a free and open source Content Management System (CMS) that allows organizing, managing and publishing your content and is built on PHP based environments. Drupal CMS is very flexible and powerful and can be used for building large, complex sites. Drupal is a free and open source content management system (CMS) written in PHP and distributed under the GNU General Public License. Originally written by Dries Buytaert (who still continues to lead the Drupal project), Drupal turned open-source in 2001 and since then has blossomed into a powerful and friendly content organizer with the contribution of countless developers world-wide to the.

Pros of a Drupal CMS

  • Open-Source

Drupal is open-source, meaning you will have the ability to freely modify and distribute code without worrying about licensing fees.

  • Developer-Friendly

Drupal is great for experienced developers who are familiar with coding, making it a fan-favorite for those with a lot of developer experience.

  • Produces Highly Advanced Sites

Since it is so developer-focused, Drupal offers a lot of capabilities for producing more advanced websites than other content management systems, like WordPress and Joomla.

  • Great for Community Platform Sites

Sites that require complex data organization and community platform sites with multiple users will find Drupal highly beneficial.

  • Flexible and Versatile

Drupal is best for advanced sites that require complex functionality and versatility.

Cons of a Drupal CMS

  • Requires Great Technical Expertise

As mentioned above, Drupal is an advanced CMS that requires developer expertise. If you do not have someone on your team with developer experience, Drupal may not be the CMS for you.

  • Difficult to Install

As with managing Drupal, installing Drupal also requires some technical expertise.

Drupal is definitely a great choice for companies with an experienced web developer on the team. However, due to the complexity of Drupal, it may not be the best choice for everyone. Concrete5, Wordpress, Joomla, or a custom approach might work better for others in the long term. If you need help choosing a CMS, contact Informatics Inc.
